We have a busy August ahead of us gig wise but are most honored to play the MEDIA THEATER FRI AUG 27 at 7:30 PM. This is the place where I saw For Your Eyes Only (my first movie without parents), got beamed with chewed up Juji Fruits, saw E.T. a few times while it ran there for almost 6 months, held hands with girls, saw Red Dawn and countless other movies for a dollar.

I’ve always dreamed of playing there and now it’s coming true. Please be a part of the experience in this grand theater. Bring the kids, your parents, your grand parents and cousins and help us fill ‘er up. It will be a good one to wrap up the summer.

We got some gigs coming up this week THU at Joclyn’s in Media, PA at 10PM. Then we are doing this party on SAT 3PM at some farm. Hope you are invited. If not head out Providence Rd to Sugartown road, go right and listen up.

It’s been a hot, wet and oily summer and after this week Bundy and I will be 8 years closer to 40 then when we started playing as R3 Band. Band o Cancers. Please come listen and hang out with us.

Media Farmer’s Market Jam THU 07.08.2010

I got stuck in Philly last week and didnt’ make it to the farmers market gig but re-scheduled. I will be playing acoustic at the Farmer’s Market in Media THU 07.08.2010 around 5:30 or so. As soon as i can get back from work. The Media Farmer’s Market is a new event each Thursday to make local produce available. Today’s feature will be Kohlrabi and locally produced R3 Band CD’s. Get some!

Also we are rapidly approaching the Media 5 Miler and party at Tedman’s 06.18.2010 where we will perform with the Broozers. Last year this became my favorite party in years and I am looking forward to seeing people get down like that this year again.

Well, I joined the R3band almost two years ago now as a fourth member on guitar and background vocals. For a long time, I was being referred to as “R4″ by people who clearly think that R3 indicates quantity of personnel in the band, like Gang of Four or something. The most cursory musical knowledge will tell you that numbers in band names very rarely correspond how many folks are in the band, Gang of Four being a notable exception. I ask you, did L7 have seven riot grrrrrrrrrrls? A resounding no. Did Four Non-Blondes have only four members? No, my friend, they had four members who were not blonde, and one who clearly was (Nina Chinchalko) for a total of five. I feel your pain, Nina. Five for Fighting? More like One For Lugubrious Falsetto Whimpering. It’s about the train line, the one that connects us to lovely and historical Philadelphia. The name’s Brent, but if you want you can call me “Sloofoot,” “King Hellaman,” “Hotpockets,” “The Madman,” or any of my other aka’s from over the years, just no R4, mmmmkay?

I found a Trace Elliot Vellocette on eBay and won the sucker! Had our first practice with it in the band last night. A new sound sort of. I will miss the bite and growl of my old 96 Fender Blues Deville 2 X 12 and all the memories we shared through the smokey bars of USA. But now sound guys can mic me, band mates won’t complain about how loud I am and I should be able to control it a lot better now. Not only that but it’s really really light.
